Cantor David Presler has served numerous congregations for the past 37 years in the New York and Florida regions, currently serving Temple Beth Orr, Coral Springs, FL. Cantor Presler is a prolific composer of Liturgical Music, with Sim Shalom as his first published work with Transcontinental Music Publication featured in the Shabbat Anthology, 2005.
Cantor Presler earned his B.A. and M.S. Degrees at Queens College in Music Education, and his S.C. in Jewish Education and Administration at Yeshiva University. He has also taken numerous courses in Leadership and Communication at Landmark Worldwide and is currently publishing the last works of Noah Schall for Shabbat with music editor, Eric Komar. As a concert artist, Cantor Presler has appeared in numerous venues performing Art Songs, Opera Arias, Broadway Favorites, Jazz Standards, Classic Repertoire in French, Italian, Spanish, German, Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and Russian. He also performs opera professionally, currently in the chorus of Palm Beach Opera (Carmen, Rigoletto) and Florida Grand Opera (The Passenger: a Holocaust Opera).
Cantor Presler also teaches and is a student of Spirituality. Having studied with several spiritual teachers and greatly influenced by his mother, Lily, a Holocaust survivor, a profound depth and spirituality has become an essential element to Cantor Presler’s powerfully engaging style of prayer. David continues to compose new Liturgical works for Shabbat and Holy Days.
He is also very active in Leadership training at Landmark, and has been involved in courses, as well as coaching and assisting for the past 15 years. Courses and Seminars include Communication, Leadership, Self-Expression, Wisdom, Being Extraordinary and more.
His Landmark projects to date include: producing an Opera for 3 casts of emerging artists at Le Frak Hall in conjunction with Queens Symphony, a Cantorial concert of 10 Cantors in New York City, a 90 Page Transliterated Siddur and CD, a concert tour called “Light Up the World with Music” – 25 concerts in Senior Homes up the East Coast, Summer 2015.
The next project is to create a Non-Profit to support Emerging Artists in getting them “Opera-tunities” to perform in a very challenging market, integrating Rap and Opera, and building relationships with Opera Companies and Organizations . He recently created an Artist Management company, David Presler Artist Management to support emerging singers, composers, directors and entertainers in their careers. David also is a fine voice instructor, with several students in New York and Florida. He continues his studies weekly with Cantor Avshalom Zfira, a master of the Bel Canto technique of voice.
David has worked with some well-known pianists including William Hicks, Atarah Hazzan, James Besser, Douglas Martin, Kelly Horsted, Lucy Arner, Audrey Saint-Gil, and Andrew Saderman. He has also studied composition with Thea Musgrave, Joel Mandelbaum, and Jazz greats including Mike Mossman, Sir Roland Hanna, Jimmy Heath, and Donald Byrd.
His list of CD recordings include a Jewish Jazz album: Time for Moshiach, Megillat Esther, Shabbat and Weekday Nusach, B’way Selections and Art Song Recitals. There are numerous You Tube recordings in all different styles online.
